Oregon Peace Action enters 9th Year

A Corvalis, Oregon residents' group celebrated it's eighth anniversary of peace action on Oct. 7, 2009. The group first started picketing for reduced military action and peace on Oct. 7, 2001 - the day the USA invaded Afghanistan.

"Bob Stebbins, the local chapter president for Veterans for Peace, said the main goal of the vigil is to make people aware that other options exist beside military action," writes Raju Woodward, of the The Corvalis Gazette-Times (Oregon) in an article re-produced at www.commondreams.org.

Congratulations to Corvalis residents for their sustained and persistent presence.
